Year 1 Pirate Day at Weald Country Park

Ahoy there me hearties!

Year 1 had a great day despite the heat at Weald Country Park learning all the skills needed to be a pirate. They learnt to escape a sinking raft, walk the plank, spell SOS with their bodies and make treasure maps to find their 'pieces of eight'. They made flags using natural materials including leaves, chalks and charcoal with sticks for the mast.

Using great teamwork skills they made a boat from sticks which had to include the stern (back), bow (front), port (left) and starboard (right) sides of the boat!
