School Lunches 

Changes to arrangements for mixing packed lunch and school lunches.

Thanks to the Pupil Asset app we are pleased to say that pupils will no longer have to have a whole week of packed lunch or school lunch. Pupils may now alternate during the week between school lunch and own packed lunch. 

We do ask that if you could use the Pupil Asset meal choice section to advise us even if pupils will be having packed lunches, it'd be very much appreciated.

Ordering Lunch 

Parents/Carers are asked to choose lunches for their child in advance to provide the kitchen with an accurate number of meals required so that they can be ordered prior to cooking. However, on a daily basis during registration a dinner register is also taken, this ensures all pupils have a meal ordered. On occasions packed lunches are forgotten the office can also request a meal for a pupil. If on any day there has been a menu change, a child does not like a meal or will not eat the options, we seek to source an alternative with the catering team. Where this is not possible, we then request a packed lunch from home.

Each day, once a pupil’s meal choice is confirmed as taken on Pupil Asset, the system updates. If a pupil is absent, or the meal choice is changed to packed lunch, the system should automatically credit the meal cost back to the balance. Should this not happen please contact the office and we will be happy to correct that for you.

Lunch Arrangements 

Pupils can bring in their own packed lunch or can order a school lunch. Our food is prepared and cooked on the premises and comprises of a balanced, tasty and nutritional menu.

The meals are very popular with the pupils and are great value at £12 per week (just £2.40 per meal). Parents/carers and pupils are encouraged to select their choice of lunch one week in advance and for a week at a time. The choice of school lunches is selected from a weekly menu.

Lunches should be ordered and paid for by the Thursday morning of the week before on the Pupil Asset app or website.

We request that healthy packed lunches are provided in a suitably robust, named container and that there are no fizzy drinks, sweets, chocolate or yoghurt tubes. 

Please also note that as known allergens, food containing nuts or sesame seeds should not be brought into school.

Year F, Year 1 and Year 2 Universal Free School Meals

From September 2014 all pupils in Foundation, Year 1 and Year 2 are eligible for FREE school meals. This is fantastic news because pilot studies have clearly shown significant benefits for children eating a proper nutritious meal in the middle of the school day.

However, families on low incomes are asked to continue to complete a confidential free school meal registration form as this information will enable our school to continue to access pupil premium funding allocated from the Government.

Why apply if my child is in EYFS or KS1?

Pupil premium funding makes a big difference and this year we received £1320 for each pupil registered. Our school has successfully used the money to subsidise workshops for parents/carers, trips and music lessons, as well as employing a Counselling and Family Support Worker.

KS2 Eligibility for Free School Meals

Parents of KS2 children may choose to apply to check their eligibility for Free School Meals (FSM). Children will be eligible for free school meals if their parent/carer receives one of a number of benefits.

Special themed menus

We occasionally have themed lunch days. These have included French day, St George's Day, Children in Need and Wimbledon. On these days the menu fits the theme and the hall is decorated appropriately!
